Hi, I'm Robyn from Pomfire Pomeranians! I've been breeding dogs for over 30 years - starting with beagles and now into Pomeranians for quite a few years. I worked with my Pom mentors for ten years, they are experts on Pomeranians, before getting my first Pomeranian. I am committed to the preservation of the Breed by only breeding quality dogs that have been fully health tested. I do not support the breeding of dogs that are not registered pedigree with the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC).
Why did I get involved in breeding?
I've always loved animals. As a child, my family had animals of many varieties, and we loved taking them everywhere with us. As I grew older I wanted to help preserve the pedigree breeds as they were intended, for their original purpose. Showing dogs is one way to do that. The idea of “showing” a dog is to have other breeders and a qualified judge review your dog and assess its qualities against the Breed Standard. The Breed Standard is different for every recognised breed. It sets out the blueprint for that breed in terms of skeletal conformation, musculature, coat covering and colour, gait and temperament, amongst other things. I am a Preservation Breeder, which is something I am passionate about. This means I sometimes look for ‘Preservation Partners’ that can take on a dog, love and care for it as their own but allow me to use the dog for breeding if needed. That Special Touch
I believe that selecting the right family for each puppy is essential! I want to be there for all the owners, and I try to stay in contact with every buyer to help them on their journey. I try to have an annual catch-up with our extended puppy family, with a puppy picnic for all those who are able to attend. If owners are far away, I try to put them in touch with a support mentor that I know in their area. I also love hearing about how the pups are growing, exchanging photos and keeping up to date with them.
I was incredibly lucky to have been offered my first Pom, Gr Ch Tupishka Teddy Toasted Me (Chewy), to show by a very special lady, Mrs Pat Cassidy of Tupishka Pomeranians. This offer came a lot earlier than I expected as quality Poms are hard to come by. I am forever grateful to Pat for selling Chewy to me.
